Landscaping in the Big City

You love your apartment at the top floor of the highest building in the city, but you yearn for the soothing calm of the countryside. Is there a way to make it possible for you to enjoy some perks of a traditional home?

When you decide to landscape your apartment or condo, there are several factors you might want to consider. First of all – space. Whether you only have 60 square meters or 500 square meters of allowable area for landscaping, every space, nook, and cranny counts. You will want to maximize what little space you have, so plan it out wisely.

For that homey feeling, planting trees would be a good idea. Small to medium sized shrubs are a thing of the past. Big trees such as oak or maple are fast becoming popular choices for city dwellers. Pruning and shaping their leaves every now and then helps to keep them looking polished. For an extra touch, decorate your trees with bright yellow lights to replicate the irony of a city garden.

If big trees are out of the question, go crazy on flowers. Whether they are tiered in a beautiful chaos over the wall, or lined up nicely along the porch, flowers are sure to add beauty to even the grimmest areas of the city. You can also plant them in a planter to make things more convenient for you. Lush blossoms are perfect for city-dwellers, as these can provide soothing and calming effects after a hard day’s work.

A Walk to Remember

If you happen to live in an apartment complex where they have paths in between buildings, you can spice up the pavement by landscaping pebble or gravel on it. placing mini lanterns for you to light up at dark gives an extra romantic feel to the neighborhood that even your neighbors would love.

Still, if you doubt you can pull off this whole landscaping thing by yourself, calling a landscape contractor is easily your best choice. You can get expert advice, and decorating tips, as well as help in sorting out your space. Remember though – take into consideration the policies and regulations of your apartment building’s owner. This prevents you from wasting money on something that will be taken down, and will help you set limits on the things you want to do.
