Though summer seems like a long time away at the moment, you can be sure we’ll all soon be basking in the warm rays of the sun. One of the most enjoyable ways to do so is to enjoy from your garden furniture. So, what are the coolest and most stylish choices for the imminent season of sun?

Rattan Sets

These sets of furniture offer a rustic and long lasting alternative to the traditional patio chair. Sets can be bought in a variety of colors and shapes and have a certain Mediterranean feel about them. This can really translate well into your garden and offer you the choice of something a little different.

Swing seats and hammocks

The traditional lazy way to spend an afternoon. The  swing seat, or the hammocks rocking motion certainly facilitate that feeling of relaxation and are at home with a homemade lemonade, or even something stronger. There is no better way to relax on a warm day with the summer air, sunshine and that chilled out position on a swing seat or hammock – very cool.

BBQ

Whether you decide on a top of the range BBQ, or just a nice charcoal fire pit, there is something quintessentially summer about cooling alfresco. BBQs don’t have to cost a lot, but the more expensive do really look and cook impressively.

Of course you can always make your own BBQ from an old metal drum slicked in half. Such a charcoal creation is easily made and can offer large space for cooking. In fact it is not unknown for people to cook spit roasted animals on such rustic creations.

Smokers are also easily made and can offer you that certain southern smoky food flavor; you yearn for. The Internet is full of homemade instructions on how to make one of these machines, with many no more complex than drilling a hole in a tin trash can and using a hotplate, wood chips and a grate. These can really create an excellent flavor and be the talking point of your outdoor party.

Plastic Furniture

Though traditional metal, or wooden furniture can look, amazing, plastic moulded furniture can also offer some very unusual and cool designs to those looking for outdoor furniture. Plastic can offer a wide variety of colours and there are a number of companies that create very distinctive styles of plastic seating and tables for a relatively low price. These pieces offer a sturdy and also a weather proof alternative to many of the metal and wooden alternatives.

Companies such as Danetti produce some very cool designs in furniture terms and really allow you to brighten up your garden and add a sense of personal style. These contemporary designs offer a quirky and cool way to brighten up your outside area.

Homemade

Of course if you’re a little strapped for cash, there should be nothing to hinder you. Old wooden boxes from bars, stores and other places can also be used as chairs and tables. Look for heavy wooden boxes, such as tea crates, or boxes used for packaging delicate items and can take weight and use them for a rustic, simple, but effective piece of garden furniture. Teaming together some small and larger boxes can make great homemade furniture allowing you to sit back and relax!
